Strap Slippers

Materials: Chadwick's Red Heart Baby Wool, 1 skein (3/4 oz skein) of White and scraps of pink  or

J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro Sheen.

J. & P. Coats ONT Six Strand Embrodery Floss, 1 skein Nile Green and 1 skein Mid Rose. (optional)

Plastic Crochet Hook #4

1 1/4 yards of pink ribbon, 1/4 inch wide.

Sole

Starting at center, ch 20.

Rnd 1: 3 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 2 ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, half dc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in next 6 ch, 9 tr in last ch; working along opposite side of starting chain make tr in next 6 ch, dc in next 3 ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch, half dc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, 3 dc in same place where first 3 dc were made. Sl st in 3rd ch of starting chain.

Rounds 2-3: Sc in each st around, increasing around curved ends as necessary to keep work flat-to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. Join. Break off at end of 3rd rnd.

Toe Piece

Starting at instep, ch 8.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 2- 7: Sc in back loop of each sc across. Ch 1, turn. At end of 7th row, ch 25, sl st in first sc of same row. Break off. Attach yarn to center of ch 25 and work in rows as follows:

Row 1: Sc in each ch, sc closely around instep, sc in each remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2-8: Sc in back loop of each sc around. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 8th row.

Sew up back seam. Pin sole in place and, working through both thicknesses, make sc closely around. Join and break off.

Straps and Back

Row 1: Ch 10, skip 5 sts on top, attach yarn to next st, sc in same place and in next 14 sts, ch 11. Turn.


Row 2: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in back loop of each sc and in each remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in back loop of each sc across. Break off.

Row 4: Skip 10 sc. Attach yarn to next sc, sc in back loop of same sc and in next 14 sts. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5-10: Sc in back loop of each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 10th row. Turn.

Row 11: Ch 10, sc in back loop of first sc and in each sc across. Ch 11, turn.

Row 12-13: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows. Break off.

Embroider instep with scraps of Pink Baby Yarn and embroidery floss if desired. Cut ribbon into 4 pieces. Tie a piece through each strap. Make another Bootee the same way.
