Free Crochet Pattern for a Bathroom Rug

Rug Size is 24" x 36", excluding the fringe
 
Materials: Coats and Clark Speed-Cro- Sheen Mercerized Cotton thread (Speed Cro-
Sheen is a registered trademark of the Coats and Clark Co)  - 15 balls each of White and Black.
 
Plastic Rug Hook - Size G or size needed for guage.
 
Gauge:  3 sc make 1 inch; 2 long sc rows make 1 inch.
 
Starting at narrow edge with a strand each of  White and Black, make a chain 36" long.
 
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 24 inches,
having an even number of sc. Ch 1, turn.
 
Row 2: Sc in first sc. * sc in base of next sc (long sc made) sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with long sc. Ch 1, turn.
 
Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 36 inches. Break off.
 
Fringe
 
Cut 7 strands of White, each 7 inches long, double these strands to from a loop. Insert hook in first sc on last row and draw loop through. Draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly to form a knot. Skipe next sc and make a Black Fringe in next sc. Continue to make  a White and a Black Fringe alternately in this manner across. Complete  other side to correspond.
