How to Make Your Own Playdough - Play Dough Recipes

I made these playdough recipes for my kids when they were young. Both turn out really well and provide hours of fun.
 
 

Play Dough - Recipe 1
 
I made this recipe for my kid's when they were young and it turned out really well.
 
2 c baking soda
1 c corn starch
1 1/4 c cold water
food coloring (optional)
 
Mix in a pan the baking soda and cornstarch.
 
Measure out water and add food coloring for color if desired. Add the water to the mixture in the pan.
 
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it reaches the consistency of mashed potatoes.
 
Empty this mixture onto a plate and cover it with a damp cloth until cool.
 
Place on a flat surface covered with corn starch. Knead the mixture until smooth.
 
Place on waxed paper and using a rolling pin roll to about 1/4" thickness.
 
Store in a tight plastic bag after use.

Play Dough Recipe 2
 
2 c flour
1 c salt
4 tbsp cream of tartar
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 c water
food coloring (optional)
 
Add all ingredients in a sauce pan and stir well.
 
Cook at moderate heat until gooey and very thick.
 
Place onto a wax paper and add food coloring if desired. Work the food coloring into the mixture and knead until very smooth.
 
Refrigerate in plastic bags between uses.
